Re: Arma 3
With my background in sims it made sense to treat it more as an infantry sim. In co-op mode you could get away with quite a bit, though if you went Rambo on a lot of co-op or multiplayer scenarios you'd spend lots of time as a seagull. Batshit insane is more suited for BF1942, what with jeep hurling...

Re: Arma 3
Has a formal release date ever come out for ARMA3? I got rather depressed a month or two back when it pushed out an indefinite period. The original OFP discs are still sitting here on my desk, being a dozen years old, now. Having skipped ARMA1 because it was impossible to find and ARMA2 due to being...

Re: WTF? New structure= New Lag?
Luitger, turn on your net graph and take a look at what's going on. It will give you good information on whether packets are going missing somewhere along the route and if it's a constant or irregular disruption. The reason I stopped playing on the TF servers was because there was 5-10% packet loss ...

Is wacky balloon races on the menu? Glitchy, yes, but quite fun.

Re: World of Tanks
also what does it mean to have female and male versions of a tank? that must have been explained earlier in the show Just because I have a thing for history and old threads - the male/female terms describe a British tank's armament. The male has a primary armament of 6 pound guns (i.e. the man part...

Re: To all the Jewish J2ers
To be frank it's not offensive at all. It's also not particularly funny or melodic (i.e. no redeeming value). Neither was that clip from Jimmy Kimmel.

Re: DICE's Kalms makes detailed post
I think he's acknowledging that that would be better Dugan, except they've boxed themselves in the corner with their legacy systems. Each diff patch winds up having to be a near full replacement because their system is flawed and requires too much human expertise. Good ole' Dice, providing more ente...

Re: New Server
Would you mind posting a dump of cat /proc/meminfo and/or vmstat ? And sorry, I misinterpreted what you said earlier as Apache was caching too much data hence the questions about PHP, MySQL, and the intended followup about the current maxservers directive. Most of my experience is on Solaris & B...

Re: New Server
Pity it doesn't provide more details on the VM subsystem like other flavors of UNIX.
Apache issues aside, am I right to assume that PHP isn't using too much per-script memory and that MySQL is running on the same box yet keeping itself nice and happy?

Re: New Server
That's still a simple majority that want the server on the west coast. Looking at the stats map is also quite revealing as to player geography (granted there are some glaring irregularities with some of the IP mappings). There's also a simple point that's being lost here - there are already two serv...

Re: New Server
I'd love to know more if Joe cares to chime in. Not that this is the case, but it reminds me of a Insurgency box I played on for a few months that ran out of a guys house in Roseville or thereabouts; bugger was able to get 25Mbit uplink from his ISP

Re: New Server
So what's the deal with TF3, is it something that is leased/rented, or is it a privately owned-colo box (i.e. pay for power, bytes & rack space)? And not to be too, dense, but ETF isn't in my acronym database outside of finance.

Re: New Server
Rate adjustments don't help. All you need to do to test this is turn up your rate and watch the lack of change. A better illustration is to join TF4 when there are just a handful of players. Latency will list as about 35-45ms at low load. As players join it will creep steadily upwards to about 75-85...

Re: New Server
Everybody's whiny and wants the best possible ping. Middle America seems to work the best, as we already determined when we did the last survey to figure out where to put a server. Gives most people (sorry Trizik, ratty) the balanced out results. West coast for east coasters isn't as much fun, but ...
