lolno, a map is tinier than a plugin to generate the entire thing considering the plugin would have to store all the map info in some form or another along with the generation code.

tl;dr tekkit has shitty reliability, crashes very often. It has awesome bugs whereby you can corrupt a large number of chunks and crash any client that goes in them. Its an absolute resource hog because of the terrible way its coded.
