Re: Eviltechie builds a pc
scrimping on a motherboard is risky, Tech, they're the nervous system of your build. Do some chipset research at least before you decide on what MoBo you want. Wouldn't want to bottleneck yourself. I don't necessarily mean the bottom of the barrel, but you can get the H170 chipset instead of the Z1...

Re: Eviltechie builds a pc
I actually came to a similar looking build last night. Two things though: When I looked at benchmarks, two 970's seemed to be exactly equal to a 980ti. Same price, same benchmarks. The 980ti wins though because you can get a cheaper motherboard that doesn't support SLI, and the 980ti has more VRAM. ...

Re: Eviltechie builds a pc
I'm not sure what I'm doing anymore. Please send help.
My current thought is to get a 1440p144 monitor capable of freesync/gsync and build from there. My budget tops out at $2000. Less is obviously fine.

Re: Eviltechie builds a pc
I know somebody who works for a company that makes the actual peltier devices. They're working on developing a commercial CPU cooler (among other products). If I can get my hands on one, it would probably be one of the prototype coolers. Their first generation product had the peltier in contact with...

Re: Eviltechie builds a pc
Because the AMD CPU isn't fast enough per core to be good at current gen games, let alone next gen games. He would do better going with a newer dual core then an AMD something like the i3-6100 with it's 20-50% faster per clock speed cores it would easily trounce that 8 core CPU. I was talking to a ...

Re: Eviltechie builds a pc
Slight hiccup. It seems that the price of my build has gone up by $150 overnight. That puts me from over budget, to way over budget. Back to the drawing board.

Re: Eviltechie builds a pc
It seems that sync is important for the 1440p144 thing. It also seems that gsync adds $100 to the price of the monitor as compared to freesync. I'm thinking of switching to an AMD card now.

Re: Eviltechie builds a pc
I'm getting hints that my video card is way overkill for 1080p.
Anybody jumped on the 4k or 144hz train?

Re: Eviltechie builds a pc
It is plug and play if you want it to dangle in your case. LOL You need to screw it into the hard drive cage that comes with the case. :thefuck: At the moment I'd say it's overkill That's the impression I'm getting. I'm okay with that though, especially if I can avoid having to screw with it down t...

Is there anything I should know about SSD's? Is it plug and play, or do I have to screw around with drivers and aligning my bytes?

What games do you play? What games are you looking to play? Will you be doing any of your video editing on this desktop? Mostly it's been CS:GO. I haven't bought any games in a long time simply because I don't have anything to run them on. Top of my list right now are JC3, GTAV, and MGSV. CPU: for ...
