Actually, what I meant is that growing trees inside your plot, cannot change the area outside of your claim. (Leaves sticking out etc.)

I agree with Ripto. But it's alpha, what do you expect FM? Minecraft in alpha only let you have 5 save files, no beds, no pistons (only in mod, and they were WHITE), none of this new shizzle. Well fine, but instead of factions, why not mc4? Plain and simple survival. No uber-crazy untouchable fortresses or boss factions. Everything everywhere can be raided.
