I think I am going to try and turn my CS server into Source. But, with that being said, I feel if you cut down the number of published servers on the main page, it would attract more people to play. Give it a shot maybe?

I think CS:S is a good choice, its the 2ne most poplular Steam game and seems to be gaining momentum actually. We need a good server that has good fun plugins/stats.

Really, any server you end up with is going to end up empty quite often. Although now with bots in source you can easily attract people by turning bots on and having it appear that people are in the server. As more people come the bots will be booted off..the less the more come on.

My choices (in subcategory order only):
FPS:
-CS 1.6 with custom nipper maps.
-KannonBall
-SMS type server, with temp admin accounts on ssh for temp days?
-Brainbread

MMO:
-L2 Free server, with edited rates (like 10x,10x,20x)
-Ragnarok online? meh

Chat:
-IRCd, linked to gamesurge, will boost popularity / publicitiy.
-Ventrilo, http://www.joe.to offical ventrilo, with all gaming sections, sorted nicely.

Sharing:
-Some kind of sharing server for the community
-DC Hub?

Other:
-SHOUTcast server, (I know myself, bl4nk, and knoid were up for this)
-Image / email host?
-anything else I missed?

I dunno, I would prefer the "chat/other" sections myself. To expand the ways of this community even farther, besides gaming because people are pretty content atm. Just join all the MMO players on one vent or something, since a large % of the j2 now is obsessed with mmos.

Just my opinion.

if u run a L2 server, though it seems unlikely ill sign up for a admin spot, i already know about 75% of the commands from creating my own .ini :D

A personal RO server sounds fun as well, didn't even think about it. I guess I should open my mind to new things other than just FPS.

I vote a 1.6 Nipper map server, or just a plain custom map server on 1.6 But with none of those dumb Warcraft mods or Hook mods or anything.
