Duke Nukem Forever gets release date

"The once unthinkable will soon be upon us. Duke Nukem Forever has been dated and it'll be hitting stores after 13 arduous years on May 3 in the US before going global on May 6.

First announced by 3D Realms in 1997, Duke Nukem Forever threatened to become one of the more infamous pieces of vapourware before Gearbox stepped in late last year to take over the reins and help see the game through to completion.

"The moment fans all over the world have been waiting for is almost here," 2K president Christoph Hartmann told Game Informer, "May 3, 2011 marks Duke's return as he unleashes his brash and brutally honest wit on the world. I think I would have liked this better if I grew up playing the Duke Nukem games, I thought it was annoying how hard the joked about the game is *actually* coming out and how everything was censored. The 360 controller plug was also pretty annoying, but the game looks like it has a lot of sex, violence and explosions... how could it go wrong?

I grew up with duke nukem and enjoyed all the snippets of the most memorable moments of the original game in the trailer
but honestly this game looks like shit and I predict its going to do horrible saleswise
who knows how multiplayer will be though, tf2 proves you dont need good graphics for a fun online experience

I made my first level using their lvl editor... I made one called the cube and I made a realistic rendition of my house well close too it.

I don't think it has been announced, confirmed, etc. but i'm looking forward to online campaign co-op. Gearbox are the same people that made the 4 player co-op Borderlands. Though I wouldn't be surprised if DNF also used Gamespy servers.
