Here are the confirmed changes:
  • Fire or redstone is now required to trigger TNT a.k.a you can't hit it with your fist anymore
  • Fences can be stacked.
  • Sheep no longer drop wool from being punched.
  • Crashed/some broken Worlds are now loadable again.
  • Punch damage has increased from dealing one heart, to two. In other news it seems those accidental deaths are on the rise.
  • Single slabs use the bottom part of double-slab block texture.
  • New looks for Cobblestone, Bricks.
  • When you press F3 there is another thing added below x, y, z which states where you are looking. It's called f: #. Numbers 0-3 determine where you are facing North, East, South or West.
  • Breaking animations now have opacity instead of grey.
  • Pistons
  • Shears (can be used to pick up leaf blocks and to to shear sheep without hurting them)

Yep. We've decided we'd like the front page to be useful. First step was some news item the community would find meaningful.

Who decided

We are the music makers, And we are the dreamers of dreams, Wandering by lone sea-breakers, And sitting by desolate streams;—World-losers and world-forsakers, On whom the pale moon gleams: Yet we are the movers and shakers Of the world for ever, it seems.

I was hoping pistons were going to be like the jump pads from infiniminer. Redstone wiring is the most unintuitive shit

Redstone is pretty fun once you start figuring out how it works. For the longest time I didnt even bother messing with it because I knew I couldnt, but the piston update has made me want to learn. Ive made a few good things on mc1 so far with them

It's all logic gates. Takes a little learning, but it can be pretty cool.

Except when it decides to break for no reason.
Still not dead.

Yeah. Me and Ehlohel were trying to build a light switch a couple days back that would keep breaking after a couple uses. We had to ask ammaraskar in to fix it, we couldn't tell what was wrong. We ended up rewiring it.

I hope Notch allows a larger minimum and maximum block depth.
