A Joe Update
Re: A Joe Update
Damn, that whole situation is really sad. I never really got to know joe all that well, but he created a really great community back when it was thriving. One funny thing I remember is that he made me admin on the forum simply because I complained about something, and he said here, be an admin, deal with it yourself.
I hope joe is in a better place, whether he's still alive or moved on.
Thanks for the update KoD.

Re: A Joe Update
That's funny, he did the same thing to me too. I made a long rant on IRC about how various things should be updated and changed and he basically said "you're an admin now, fix it".
Re: A Joe Update
Joe had such an unusually refreshing way of dealing with difficulties like that, sys & KoD. I didn't get to spend a lot of time with Joe, but in that time he had a noticeably positive impact on me by being mindful of decisions I'd make to treat people well - and I saw him do the same with others, too.
Where ever Joe went, I hope he went willingly and comfortably. He gave a lot of himself to this community, and I can imagine how crushing it must have been to not have it support him when he needed it.
Thank you for the update, KoD. If she's not willing/able to ship his belongings herself, Scooby (sorry for volunteering ya, scoobs) and I are both in San Francisco and can handle the logistics.

Re: A Joe Update
Hey guys, i managed to contact joe through a medium/psychic/gypsy the other day. He says he is living well and in a better place ,and wants say hi to every single one of you.
He says he is living in high places now, and he gets all plenty of rest where he lives (wonder what he means by that). Here is a picture of the entrance of his place that he sent me

, looks good. The view must be phenomenal

I had a dream about joe last night. Definitely miss his liberal shenanigans.
And I miss all of you. I was 12 when I made this account, in a couple years I'll be 30.
I also "dreampt" about how fun the political subforum could be right now if it weren't a graveyard.
It's fascinating to think about the history that went on here and how it's still alive in a different form; new mediums for communications (discord, mumble, friends lists).
I will forever appreciate the forum though. I feel like this format is akin to carving letters into stone versus today's chatter.
To everyone, I miss you & our community, very much, and I hope you are all happy and doing well.

Goodness KoD, you make me feel so old... like a small panic attack about how fast time moves. I was 19 years old when I created this account in 2002... and just turned 38 in August of this year. I want to go sit in a corner and think about how good we had it back then while playing uplifting music from that era. That is the trick nostalgia tends to play on our hearts and minds.
One day... 10 or 15 years from now... we will look at 2020 as a precious time (somehow).
We will have kids who are teenagers or just graduated from college... or those of us who have kids now might have grandkids they will be introducing to the joe.to forum.
Ok I am stopping now, this is making me sad in advance.

Re: A Joe Update
Been a while since I've hung around here, but I wanted to see what y'all have been up to.
Thanks for the update KoD, even though it's definitely not the news I wanted to hear about Joe, it's nice having a little bit of closure (I've been wondering what happened to Joe even after all these years)...
I was like 13 when I started this account, and at this point I've gone through college and have a job, but I just need to thank you all for taking me in. Not sure if it was 100% this community but I think y'all were a huge contributing factor to how I see the world today and just making me a better person overall. I still haven't found a gaming community that has been able to match J2 to this day.
So I guess what I am meaning to say in this post is thanks for all the great times, from chilling in IRC to griefing the MC server and trolling around on TF4 nights, I will never forget the time I've spent on here. I hope to game with y'all some time soon. But I am still holding out hope that Joe is still somewhere out there living happily.
