March Madness

Post by ajunk » Tue Mar 31, 2009 4:45 pm

The Escapist, best known for their Zero Punctuation reviews, is holding a competition for March Madness. In this competition, visitors vote for their favorite developers all the way down tourny style until a final winner is chosen.

Recently, Valve made its way into the the top 8. It's now that every vote counts!

As of this post, the spread between Valve and it's competition Turbine is less than 10 votes! You're required to make an account in order to vote, but the process is very simple and takes no longer then a couple minutes.

Vote vote!

valve sucks, they fuck up everything they get their hands on or they user-test it so much that it guarantees that it's fun for every newbie and not fun for anyone who likes a challenge

i voted for harmonix because who doesnt love rock band?

Oh right I forgot.

Valve, a professional game developer, doesn't nearly come close the intellectual prowess of a single server admin. Their free modding software, famous for allowing amateur game developers to work with an accessible medium and make a name for themselves, and selfless updates do not nearly make up for the fact that they do not cater to an incredibly small, elitist group of people.

Valve is just shy of winning by roughly 30 votes. This forum by itself could overturn the entire result. Voting closes 9 am EST.

I voted for harmonix just because I'd be disappointed as hell if Relic or Bioware beat them

This is a really good point. And Valve is pretty much the only PC developer left besides Relic (and I guess Turbine but how are they still in this?)

bioware is beating Rockstar by 7:1, lol

Who the fuck is Relic and why are people voting for them over Harmonix?

Harmonix are one of the coolest game developers ever- the lead designer posts on SA regularly and takes people's battle of the band suggestions, for fuck's sake.

They made Asherons Call, which was probably the first step towards modern 3d dumbed-down easymode MMOs like WoW

Relic made Dawn Of War and some other RTSs

Current Votes:
Turbine - 3292
Valve - 3275

It's the final push. Bother people you know and use your other e-mails. We can totally muster 17 votes.
