EDIT: Oh, mousepads... thanks Scooby. I have a Razer Kabuto, it's a nice surface for my laser mouse, but after about ten minutes of fast-paced turbo gungame it is rotated about 30 degrees or more. I believe it's just a rubber base. For a lower budget mouse pad it's been pretty good to me. It's lasted for years now.

Mouse Pads, not Mouse.

I have a few, a Razer ExactMat and a Mionix Propus 380, of the two I prefer the Mionix but it has a tendency to get more crud on it than the Exactmat because of the smaller divets in the surface. The larger size is what generally matters to me more than the surface type, the metal backed plastic surfaces aren't much different than the foam backed ones. I would get a metal/glass/rigid backed pad for uneven desktop surfaces and mobile applications otherwise the better grip afforded the foam backed pads is an advantage.

I bought the cheapest one I could find from office depot. Blue neoprene or something. No issues with it, and it doesn't get full of crud like the plastic ones do.

The last mouse pad I had was one that came with a dell computer we bought in 1999. It had a nice textured surface for a trackball mouse. I wore it so smooth my laser mouse wouldn't work properly on it.

I like the surface of qpad pads. It's not soft, so your mouse doesn't dig into it, and it's not hard plastic.

Just wanted to throw in that Blank probably has the best choice here. Mouse pads aren't that huge of a deal as long as they meet a minimum standard of quality. This is what I use right now:

http://steelseries.com/us/products/surf ... series-qck

It's large, doesn't move, stays cleaner than the plastic ones, and is very cheap. That's all you need. Either way, there's no reason to pay more than $10 on a mouse pad. They're not hard problem to solve as far as tech goes.
