just hold shift and you can look around the cockpit. you can do it in a jeep as well. it would be awesome if you could in a walker, see all buttons and stuff.

it helps in a gunship, when doing a flyby you can check on stuff, or if the enemy gunship is to the side you can keep an eye on him while you swing around, but it takes practice
