What was your first online multiplayer game?

Mine was a game called Infantry. Started out small, free, Sony bought it. Massed a good population. Then was turned into P2P for some stupid reason. Was turned back to free play a few years ago, and might play it again.

if you mean non-text-based games, Doom via dwango. played it every night for months.

Text based MUD's as well, first Online FPS was one of id's games either quake or doom then tribes and tribes 2 and Half-life fondest memories are of Tribes 2 and Half-life

I'm with Joe and Scooby on this one, text based muds. I played those longer than any game I have to this day. First 3-d game was quake.

i think i've played an online game before it, but the first game i realy played was star trek: Elite Force

I think I messed around with like DMC or something before anything else, but really the first I got into and actually played with friends/got to know new people was TFC. on WON. I remember when steam came out and it was still Steam and WON and I hated steam so much and refused to switch.

Runescape, followed by Ragnarok Online when it first went into open testing. I wish I had played FPS games as a child, maybe I'd be better at them today.

First ever was probably Runescape, this was followed with a multitude of "multiplayer" games like Maplestory and crap
First REAL online game was a demo for City of Villains I think, bought the game later and played for two months
Then after that was TF2... Yeah...

Infantry is free again?! what fantastic news!!! thanks for pointing that out, i was so addicted to that game and GravBall until Sony took over the collection and killed the population with pay to play. such intense, strategic, and rewarding gameplay... there is nothing else like those games
