Re: Monster Hunter Tri
It hasn't even been announced for a US/EU release yet, so who knows, maybe things will change when/if they come Stateside. Japan reaaaally doesn't need Wi-fi enabled play because of their tight gaming community and public transportation and whatnot, however if they ARE planning on making a nationwide release, online play is a must IMO.
It's not a big deal to me personally, I'm still gonna buy it and adore it and love it until you have to rip my 3DS from my cold dead hands. I know like 7-8 friends that have 3DS's as well, so I'll just force them all to buy it :3

REJOICE! Capcom's listening to Western audiences :3 Nothin' in here but good news for Tri G, hopefully we get an announcement for a western release date soon.

Svensson wrote:In addition to its accessibility, Capcom recognize that Monster Hunter Tri’s online system was an important factor in its success as well. “The other major thing that Tri brought to the table which the PSP titles have not, is a proper online multiplayer implementation,” Svensson continues. “Monster Hunter at its heart is a cooperative multiplayer game and for our market, online play is essential. The adhoc-only approach for the US market is, more often than not, too large of a barrier to find mass acceptance.”

Monster Hunter Tri G officially coming to North America in the form of Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate
The game will be released for both the Wii U and 3DS. Players will be able to transfer save files between the two devices and play co-op (local or online, [yes, online is confirmed]) on separate platforms.
The game will also be bundled with a special Wii U in Japan:
