So, officially consider this the worst kept secret of the year. There's a pre-announcement supposedly slated for this month, but massive details are already coming in about what this system will offer:

-Significantly more powerful than the Xbox 360 and PS3
-Backwards compatible with all Wii software
-Blu-Ray player
-Said to come with two controllers, motion sensing one and classic one
-classic controller will be somewhat like an iPad with "6" single touch screen, d-pad, "L and R," two triggers, and "others." The functionality of the Wii's sensor bar has now been integrated into the controller, which would mean that you'd just use your controller as a sensor bar for Wiimote gameplay. It would a sport a front facing camera. (basically an iPad with buttons as they're calling it)
-Somewhat similar architecture to the 360, allowing third parties easier development
-Will likely be priced at around $350-$400
-Could very possibly launch this October or November
- Tech details (gonna quote hear as I really dont have too much of an idea about what this means)
Additionally, IGN has learned that the system will be based on a revamped version of AMD's R700 GPU architecture, not AMD's Fusion technology as previously believed, which will, as previously reported, out perform the PlayStation 3's NVIDIA 7800GTX-based processor. Like the Xbox 360, the system's CPU will be a custom-built triple-core IBM PowerPC chipset, but the clocking speeds will be faster. The system will support 1080p output with the potential for stereoscopic 3D as well, though it has not been determined whether that will be a staple feature.
-size will be comparable to original 360, design will resemble a modernized SNES
-Touchscreen and streaming essentially confirmed
-Possible name of "Stream" along with others being considered
NEW DETAILS
-Controller to have front facing camera

This is all but confirmed, but this is the first time that significant details have accompanied rumors of the new console. So get ready to empty your wallets again (as I will be)

expect full reveal at E3 and a release in 2012

I really really really really really hate touch screens. Why the fuck can't they just have normal buttons?

"6" confused me. Sounded like were were implying there were "6" single touch screen buttons (as in 6 buttons on a touch screen), not a (what I assume you mean) 6-inch single touch screen.

So what the fuck is the touch screen for?

probably to add functionality to the controller. My guess is there will be additional areas on the touchscreen to complement the traditional 11 button controller that they'll have.

have faith, nintendo never really wastes a functionality on their systems

No, but game developers like to make frustrating as hell controls with them.

im sure now that the DS has been around for about 7 years devs have gotten a handle on how to implement touch screens well in a game

also yes, the six was meant to read 6" as in 6 inches, but i was quoting that list of stuff so it turned to "6"

wasn't nintendo going to focus more on handheld?

seems silly to divert a lot of resources to the console market considering it's pretty saturated already

Definitely more fun than I ever had with the Wii (And the most fun I've had with any console), and if they're still going down this retarded path they've decided to take (motion, touch, 3d, blah fucking blah), it will probably remain that way for a long time.

3D is stupid. Motion controls are gimmicky crap. Touchscreens on great on some things (phones) but they are being pushing into markets where they have no place. I personally think tablet "computing" is a fucking joke.
