Want this game. I played Payday, but by the time I got it, it was basically dead.

Honestly, I never found the original Payday dead in all the time I played it.
Sure, I had to play with newbies and noobs sometimes on lower difficulties, but I generally had a fun time.

the armored transport one is coming up relatively soon

Bleh, been having problems playing online lately. Seems my ISP is one of those ones that throttles P2P connections and that's what Payday 2 uses.

Money issues aside this update is great with them making overkill actually hard.
