The game definitely takes inspiration from TF2 and other games like LoL and stuff, but it combines ideas from each game along with its own ideas to make an unique experience.

For me, I'd be surprised if I ever touched TF2 again (then again TF2 completely died for me a month back), but I think TF2 isn't gonna die from Overwatch.

I'm hoping that Overwatch will add support for community servers (with larger than 6v6 preferably) and custom maps sometime in the future. As of right now, it is just heavily inspired by TF2 but not quite a clone. I still like the movement in TF2 a lot more, but Overwatch has much more vertical play which is nice, and I also quite like the artstyle and setting of the game. Unlike TF2, Overwatch actually had a competitive scene planned from the start and will do better esports-wise because of that. I agree that this won't kill TF2 yet because there's still plenty of things I prefer about TF2 (like sticky/rocket jumping and the Spy class), but Overwatch might get some huge additions and changes in the future that may eventually kill TF2. The devs very clearly care a lot about Overwatch, so they will make sure it does well.

But of course, if you're unsure whether or not you'll like the game, just sign up for the beta and join the open one May 5-9.

I felt like TF2's competitive scene was unneeded, cause the game, in a sense, was already competitive. It seemed to forced in a way.

Overwatch competitive fits more in. Although there's not a lot of screwing around in the game. There's a lot more seriousness in Overwatch than there is in TF2, which is something I am going to miss from TF2.

wut

thats now how things work at all

TF2's e-sports scene flopped because it came in, as Wolsk said, a day late and a dollar short. It wasn't planned or executed properly by Valve, which is very different from what Overwatch is doing.

Do they have a share button for Highlights now or is that just recorded with a program?

Ulting as McCree and having a Genji reflect it.

Man, this game handles alt-f4 so well.

Since this seems to be the popular thing (and I have a computer that can play it), I guess I'll give it a whirl tonight.
