Our Cat [Update]

Found out today that one of my roommates cats that has been living with us since we moved in last year has Cancer. We found out this morning when I saw this giant tumor on her stomach along with a few smaller ones and she immediately took her to the vet and they pretty much confirmed it. No clue how long she has.

We're both pretty upset about it and she's trying to sort through options on what she wants to do. I'm trying my best to help but I know ultimately it's her decision to make in the end.

I've lost my fair share of pets in my life and I know what she's going through. I just always forget that its not an adorable ball of fur that loves you forever but its also got a limited life span like most things as well.

Update: So she's pretty much decided to spoil the shit out of her until the worst starts and she'll possibly be euthanized. She has probably a year or so at best until she just stops moving, eating, etc.

We're probably gonna have her cremated as well and I'd help with that when the time comes.

everything in the world has a limited life, enjoy your cat as much as possible

Your roommate's best option is probably to just make her as comfortable and happy as possible, because cancer treatment for pets is very expensive and isn't terribly successful, and it sounds like the cancer is pretty well-established at this point. Sorry to hear about your cat; having a pet get sick like that is real shitty.

Oh no :( Sounds like your roommate has the right idea, though. A year or so of hardcore cat love is not a bad way to go out.

That happened to my cat this year. This year has been pretty fucking awful.

My cat started acting very tired and sick. I took him to the vet and it turned out he had lung cancer and it was already very bad. I had another month or so with him before he died. It was horrible how the little guy went out (choking on his own blood). I spoiled him until he died, so just enjoy the time you have and spoil the little girl.

Gah, man that SUCKS! :sadasfuck:

I know what you're going through.
One of my dogs died a few moths ago. it was a 3 legged chihuahua named Joey.
He never barked, he just did this cute little yip when he saw us, and we were happy that we gave him a chance.
I was the only one who was careful with him though.
My little brothers let him out on his own, rather than staying with him like my mother had told him, (unbeknownst to me)
even though I had told them countless times,
DON'T LET THE 3 LEGGED PUPPY OUT ON HIS OWN, UNLESS YOU BLOCK THE FRIGGIN GATE
And he drowned in our backyard pool. My mother and I picked him out of it, and had him cremated,
To this day, i can't go near the pool, or smile at my younger brothers again.
I know what you're both going through, and as I'm typing this, I'm trying not to cry.
I hope you can find closure in the time you have left.
(My mother and I found closure by forcing my father to seal the gaps between the gates when we got our schnauzer, until we knew it could swim in our pool)

Had to put my dog down around March, a tumor was in his mouth. Having to put your pet down on Christmas... damn. That sucks.
