Starting the next chapter of my life/This is a good year.
I'm 26 years old and will finally be moving out of my parents house for the first time. I remember my mom telling me a few years ago that the average age for a male to move out of his parents home is 26, though I'm sure that statistic has changed a little bit since then.
Waterbear moved in with me at my parents house earlier this year, too (j2 mingle strikes again). She's been extremely helpful, both with providing emotional support and with preparing to move.
After 8 years, I finally graduated from the local community college and got my Associates degree. Granted, there was a 3 year gap in there where I dropped out and worked full time, but that gave me a chance to grow up a little bit. I returned to the community college the 2015 spring semester and spent the following 3 semesters retaking classes and finishing up my degree, managing straight A's.
I applied to NCSU College of Engineering as a transfer student (entering as a junior) and was (eventually) accepted, which is the reason for the move. I'll be working on a bachelors of computer science, but depending on how this first year turns out, maybe I'll go for a masters.
i am excite

I just moved into the city a few months ago, and it's been pretty awesome. It was cool not having to spend money on rent and food and all that shit, but having your own place really makes a big difference (in a good way).

Re: Starting the next chapter of my life/This is a good year
his dad's the biggest and most selfish miser i've ever met in my entire fucking life, so even if he wasnt spending money on rent (was buyingmost of the food), dad was constantly hounding him about cheapest this and cheapest that. i understand the value of saving money, but its hypocritical of how much this guy would say hey dont buy mac and cheese other than kraft and then turn around and buy a $100 pen.
itll be great taking his place and to tell blip to not spend money on shit while i steal his money under his nose. I mean i know his SSN now so things are really going according to plan

I asked David Geffen personally if he'd donate to TF4 for me, but he wouldn't do it

26 is actually relatively early to move out from your parents house. I moved out when i was 18 ,and that my friend is early.
The richer the parents, the later they usually move out. It's has more to do with economic viability than cultural traditions.
What you have to do now is literally get your computer science bachelors, try not to mess up since you already come so far (8 years).
Ignore that money situation nagging from others. You're perfectly fine right now for the state that you are living in.
Otherwise, it will end up sounding like white people problems ,and my friend you are above that.
Finally, good luck

use source control for all your class assignments / projects
then in a interview you can go "well for my class project i did this" with a github/whatever link, even if it's hella dumb you still got shit to show

This sounds like a great idea. I took a couple C++ classes at the community college and I've kept all the code for every assignment that I did, so maybe I'll go ahead and throw those on my github (even though they are nothing special). Thanks for the advice!jermm wrote:use source control for all your class assignments / projects
