Need tons of help!!

Ok, first of all, I HAVE mapped before, just in the past, about 2 years ago. I just got back into it today, and I am having the hardest time trying to make this one thing. I was remaking a previous map that I made, where you would buy a certain gun (lets take the smg for instance,) and you would walk up to a door and it would open (I took this idea from the training thing.) If you had another gun, it would remain closed.

Now, this is the hard part.. making it. I took a look at the training map, provided with my retail cd. There were so many entities and stuff that I had no clue where to start. So, locke told me to ask you guys, and hopefully you can help me..

I have another problem. I started with a new map, and tried to compile it. It compiled fine, opened up CS, and a error box popped up saying "Missing wad: valve\cs.wad." I didn't use this wad in my map (of course) and I have clue where to find it. I searched on Yahoo, and I couldn't find it any where.

personally.. im a good mapper myself.. but i don't understand if you can do that or not... i mean... it might take time out of the gameplay...

You can do it. As I said, they did it in the training thing that came with CS. Just open up cs, and click on training. Go through it, until you get to the part where it instructs you to buy a mp5 and go through the door. It will only open if you buy a mp5. Also, you can convert the map "tr_1a" or w/e its called, and open it and look at it. I will attach it for you take a look, and tell me what the heck they did.

Considering that functionality is listed, quite literally, no where, I'm assuming it is some sort of simple hack done by the CS coders specially for that training level, and the use of which may have unpredictable or undesirable results.

Where the heck do you get the 'cs.wad'? I need it, because I can't test my map without it..

if you put it on your map... it must be on you computer, search for it in your cstrike folder, or sierra folder...

I had the same problem, but it said c.wad, not cs.wad. You may be using to many wads in Worldcraft/Hammer. If you have over so many, HL will say "Cannot find valve/c.wad"

I'm using like 4 wads. I recently had like 30 in there because I was looking through the textures. I just deleted them, I will remake what I have of the map, and see if that works.

Nope, I don't have the wad any where on my system, and I am only using 4 wads.

1. cstrike.wad
2. cs_dust.wad
3. cs_havana.wad
4. de_aztec.wad

No more, no less.

Are your game directories right? Did you restart Hammer after you removed them? (Hammer has to be restarted for texture removals to take effect).

BTW, I think the limit is 10 WADs, so you can add halflife.wad.

Yes, my game directories are right. And I have restarted Hammer a few times. I restarted and recreated it, cuz I got some gay error that said like 1091982341324 solids were not loaded, then Hammer crashed. After that, it only showed the 4 solids in the Options menu.

K, I will add the halflife.wad.

Copy your cstrike.wad. Rename it cs.wad. Put it in your valve folder.

See if that works.
