Yeah do that! I think we might end up with a nice collection of spooky maps if we all stay this motivated.

Either that or draw a sketch of a map for me as well. I suck when it comes to layouts like this. I need something to base it on and I really don't have anything because I haven't had any 'spooky moments' in my life.

Use this download: http://www.geocities.com/mrblipinator/scareyeh.zip
It includes the texture you need (I think I forgot it last time) and an extra room.....

AND FUDGENUTS! I forgot the VMF...I'll just decompile it real quick and fix any errors that there may be. (I don't have it here on this computer.)

Here's the VMF: http://www.geocities.com/mrblipinator/scareyeh_d.zip

I just started mapping this today, but here's the apartment T spawn.

I'm gonna make the main living room brighter, and the map name is subject to change. I decided to go with a nightmare theme, so expect some strange stuff, including some things from the Max Payne/Max Payne 2 games. While on the subject, if anyone is able to help get some of those nightmare sounds from those games, it would be appreciated.

I've tried but failed several times in the past.

This mappack is going to kick ass! The 5th and 6th screenshots look sweet.

I just compiled mine for the first time and so far so good on my end.

After much searching, I have downloaded and implemented some Max Payne sounds, including the Max Payne 2 nightmare music, which works so much better than the other music I had. I also added some fog for that 'Silent Hill' feel and a few little details to the portal hallway. Check it:

I added some sprites to the portal center for that "LoL! It glowz!" effect, but they didn't show up. I'll have to change that!

I like the 5th one Alpha, but you need to get reflections going on that to make it more realistic (looks like a window as it is).

I wanna do this, but I don't know if I have the time or inspiration commitments ughhhh.

If someone sent me a plain vmf with a simple landscape and maybe the basis for a shack or something (really, any spooky environment), then I'll probably get it done (I hate starting maps, never know where to really start).

In a way, it kind of is a window. A window to another dimension. *cue twilight zone music*

Really though, I'm not sure how to get better reflections, while still maintaining the effect that you see.

I like the screenshots! It's not really a ghost-like haloween map, but more a horror/nightmare like one and it looks kick ass. It's more realistic too.
Did you make those textures yourself?

Nope. Every texture your eyes see are default HL2 ones. So far, the only custom content are the sounds and music. But screenshots can't really capture those...

hmm, every time I see those stocked HL2 textures, it makes me realise I have still a lot to learn about texturing. My textures are nothing copared to those.

You made good use of them tho: knowing where to use what texture to create a certain effect is an art by itself IMO.

I really can't wait to play all these maps. I like all the screenshots seen so far.
