Dr. Boo, how terrifying are you planning to make this? I suggest you play through cs_rhs22 (for 1.6) at least once. It'll give you some good inspiration for atmosphere. And watch some horror flicks =)

Just off the top of my head, I suggest you don't use so many conventional lamps and add some different forms of light. For example, maybe knock out a few of those lights in the main hall and instead have those green paintings emit something. Or maybe a dropped flashlight next to a corpse or something. What I'm getting at is that if your entire castle consists of that same lighting, it might get a bit boring =[

I dunno, like Ape said, it looks a lot like your xmas map, but for me, I think it has more to do with the lighting than the texture.

What sucks for me is that my mind is racing with ideas for different maps, I can't focus on just one! I'll probably make it similar to de_nightmare, in the sense that bearly any of the rooms have a direct connection. They are all different themes and places. I'll probably do something like that. I just gotta get all my ideas down.

I'm planning to use a bunch of the scary sounds from the Hell level of Doom 3. I'm also planning to insert some things that makes you jump and give the "what the fuck was that" effect.
Donno if I'll be successful though, but I'm doing my best.

I'll try to use more varying ways to light my map. Thanks for the tips.

Just make a map... if you never try you're never gonna learn it.Maybe you'll come up with a good map that gets into the pack or maybe you're not yet experienced enough to participate in a mappack right now, but after making a couple of maps you'll get better and you'll participate in future mappacks.
