Water wall

Post by Blackjack » Wed Apr 28, 2010 5:34 am

Soooo.. Im making my first propper map. I want to have water going up my tower instead of steps or ladders. But this what my water looks like... Im not sure why its like this. I've tried a few different textures but its still the same. http://yfrog.com/jpnamnlsmp
also, the water is really dark. you cant see more then a few meters infront of you when swimming it it. Should i use lights in the water?

really really greatful for all the help!!! =D

1) You're using cheap water.

3) You can not create vertical walls of water. The Source engine is programmed to handle water properly only if it has a horizontal top.

what about using some sort of a brush made to stop water but not players?
a real wall made of invisible stone that is intangible to anything but water
i dunno if that's possible, just spewing ideas as usual

also lol at the "How to cheat and hack ..." tab that's opened on your google chrome ;)

i think it might be possible, just don't know how

i've only tried to make a map once or twice and i never really got past a box with 2 cp's and 2 spawns because i've no idea what i can do

you should ask yatta (or whoever you might find online that knows a bit about map-making) on steam friends chat or on irc

I don't really see the problem, looks like you need a better water texture, other than that I've never come across any issues with vertical towers of water, of course I've only play around with it and not actually try to make a real usable map.
