problem seeing other parts of map through skybox

Post by Franklin » Mon May 17, 2010 8:35 pm

Do any of you know how to fix this?
I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, or it's a glitch in source.
The only fix i can think of is to move that portion of the map below where i stand.
That's a last resort though.
I've also checked to see if my maps leaking.
I ran point file and nothing came up.
Shit's annoying

The answer may lie in optimizing your map. Ensure that those other areas aren't drawn when they're not needed.

I don't understand what's happening in that screenshot.

I'm standing in one room looking towards the skybox.
What you see in the screenshot is two parts of another room visible through the skybox. (The two parts highlighted with a Green border.)

This happens in fieldtrip also.
I would suggest moving it.
I honestly don't see why moving the stuff down would be a last resort.
It isn't hard at all.

Since i don't think there is a fix, I did move the stuff underneath. The reason i didn't want to do that is because I don't want EVERY SINGLE ROOM floating in space, rather than connected together. It's more/less of a mental understanding of the map for me. It's also the fact that teleporting from room to room does cause problems.

Is this an abstract map? :D please tell me it is. Would be nice to see someone else is still making them.

I decided this is the map I'm actually going to finish. I've gone through about 5 unfinished maps in hammer.
I either end up getting bored of making it, or some error/ bug I can't fix causes me to give up on it.

But this map I WILL FINISH.
It's also my first attempt at an actual full sized bomb/ defuse map.

haha weird I am EXACTLY like that too, I either leave it and never go back to it, get bored or have an anoyying error (or it just is a huge mess). and mine is my first defuse map too!
