Yep. He was amazing. Gravity one a shit ton of stuff. Story wise, it's a whatever film. But because of the 3d plus effects, it was an experience that I'll NEVER forgret. I actually had the urge to duck in the theatre. To direct all of that takes genius, Alfonso definitely earned that.

I just watched the opening of Her, and decided that I didn't have the energy to watch it, because holy shit I'm crying inside. I had to watch frozen to cheer myself up.

No matter how many amazing things are said about Gravity I don't think I could ever want to see it. I have absolutely 0 interest in the story. I don't think I'll ever really enjoy or even want to sit through any kind of man vs nature suspense/drama.

It's spectacle at its finest, I'd feel pretty bad for anyone who doesn't get to see it on the big screen. It's a great film in of itself, too, my one gripe is it overly exposes its main character's backstory and arc, and does it far too much. Would've been better to leave that stuff to be inferred by the audience through sparser bits of dialogue and fewer spotty metaphors.

I can honestly say it won't immerse you as much as seeing it on the big screen like Hellboy said
I also didn't see 12 Years a Slave but at the risk of sounding like a douche I really don't have any interest to.

12 Years a slave was decent. It did not deserve best picture in my opinion. And I saw Gravity in3d twice, and now own it on Bluray.

I've now seen all of them except Nebraska, and Philomena. My favorite... Her. It was absolutely brilliant, and beautiful. It left me with emotions exploding inside, and was an absolutely perfect blend of romance, philosophization, and a Spike Jones twist. The only film that has ever gotten me crying at the end. It was beautiful. To quote Shakespeare (spoilers) It's better to have loved and lost to have never loved at all. Oh god I'm crying inside. :,)

Necroing to say that now that I've had time to watch a bunch I gotta say my 'must watch' list from 2014 is (in no particular order): 12 Years A Slave Nightcrawler Birdman Life Itself Under the Skin Whiplash
