well I watched Requiem for a Dream last night. HOLY FUCK that movie was brutal. kinda reminded me of Trainspotting, minus all the happy parts.
I asked David Geffen personally if he'd donate to TF4 for me, but he wouldn't do it

I saw Django: Unchained yesterday. it's really edgy, but it was the good kind of edgy (if there even is a good definition of edgy)

Edgy is probably the word I'd use if I had to describe Quentin Tarantino's overall body of work

Edgy is a two syllable word used by those of lesser intellect to describe feelings and emotions that are new or novel to
their simplistic routinary life, where there's a definite set of preconceived emotions and reactions.

The right words you are looking for are sophisticated, avant garde, ultramodern, up to date ,or to be more faithful to the word, cutting edge.

The movies are great ,but yeah they might have deviated a bit too much from the tone and meaning that Tolkien had in mind.
That is the hero's quest to destroy the ring in it's fantastical world of legend and mythos of as a way of describing the twilight of ancient mythology with the dawn of modern scientific study of history. Instead of the typical final battle between the forces of good and evil that evoke storytelling closure to the movie going masses presented in the Peter Jackson trilogy.

Ladybird. Last one was Shape of Water. Basically what I missed in theaters last year.

We are the music makers, And we are the dreamers of dreams, Wandering by lone sea-breakers, And sitting by desolate streams;—World-losers and world-forsakers, On whom the pale moon gleams: Yet we are the movers and shakers Of the world for ever, it seems.
