I remember the first time Dugan got me as a spy. I was four years old, and my mom tucks me in, reads me a bed time story and gives me a glass of milk. And then suddenly I notice that someone is sapping my pillow, so I say "Goddammit it's a spy, what are my pyros doing" and suddenly my mom becomes Dugan and starts running backwards while shooting a pistol at me. I survived by jumping out my window.

You didn't mention the goodnight kiss. :hearts: You have to do the full monty to be a convincing spy.

Very nice guide. I didn't know the one about dispensers healing cloaked spies, this will make spy checking as an engi alot easier.

I love spy vs. spy battles, especially when there are other players there but they don't get in the way.

First off, great guide.

I did want to point out one thing though. Although I read most of the replies (admittedly not all of them) I didn't see this.

You can in fact, reload as a spy and you will perform the reload animation while disguised, assuming you are not disguised as a pyro, heavy or sniper. Unfortunately, you can only do this if you have less than 6 bullets in your revolver. And after you reload, you would need to fire it (losing your disguise) to be able to reload while disguised again. Not a big deal but I did want to clarify.

Thats it!!

wait, did i get this right?
if you reload as a spy, and you're, say, disguised as a demo, you'll look like a reloading demo?

You are correct Sir Rat.

Again though, you need to have less than a full clip in your pistol. What I usually do at the beginning of a round is to shoot off a bullet. That gives me one reload for when I am trying to blend in on the other side. After that... Find a nice quiet place to shoot your gun as needed, then re-disguise.

Remember that the spy reloads the whole clip at once, so shooting off multiple rounds doesnt do anything. You can still only do the reload animation one time.

If you want to see it in action get one of your spy buddies to disguise themselves as a member of your team. Works the same

A pro-tip for those who need help spotting spies under ff, as well as advice for spies.

If a spy is disguised, and has the sapper equipped. When they walk by an enemy building the disguise will raise their hands straight up like they're being robbed. Dead giveaway for spies every time. also, the sapper outline has a tendency to show up just like on the spy's HUD on the buildings sometimes even if they don't use it. Don't know why this happens.

(was this worth necro-bumping?)

Nice guide.
I think dispensers don't give that red/blue line anymore to cloaked spies though.
It did for a while then after the spy update they removed it.
