For a brief summary of what was said:
  • Valve states the most negative feedback they've received is from having to earn achievements to use unlockables.
    They're introducing a new system very soon, where unlockables can be obtained in a variety of (easier) ways. One predicted (yet not official) method is the picking up of fallen enemy unlockables.
    The new headgear is to come out before the sniper update, if not at the same time, and is entirely cosmetic (for now).
    The ability to delete your current unlocks was just for shits and giggles and has no purpose right now. You'll be able to get your items back soon after this system is released.

I want a flowery straw hat for the engie! so we look super chill and lady like! Also a tea set, so we can enjoy a cup of tea while watching people get killed by the sentry. And no, spies are not welcome to join our tea parties.

I want the Sniper to have a Koala on his head, and when they stop making it just for appearences the Koala can chunk rocks at people.... and for some reason my impending doom sense is going off again....
