free-for-all doesn't work too well with FF

no lag compensation etc.
free-for-all 'd just mean that the guy with the lowest ping wins

since there's 5 of them, how about everyone plays a 5 min. match against eachother, the 2 with the highest score duel again to determine the winrar

Rat, the only problem with that is that if there is a "feeder", or crappy player, on one team, the other team will get a lot more kills. Perhaps there could be a qualification round, like if you have 10 players you do one round of 5v5 and disqualify the two lowest scores, before going into rounds of 1v1?

The last time we tried this it failed because some bad apples tried to bring reason into it. Lets just do whatever quickly with no standards for success.

huh?
what teams?

i was thinking of 1v1s

everyone fights a 1v1, 5 min. timelimit, and the ammount of kills you get is your score

after everyone has fought, the 2 guys with the highest scores do another 1v1 to determine the winner

of course, if there's an even number of players it's easier, just use a tree like structure
eg:
a vs b, and c vs d in round one
a and d win, so a vs d in round 2 etc

I thought this would be 1v1
First to 10 kills wins or something...

It is...
I don't know what the fuck everyone else is talking about.
Rat-morningstar wrote:a vs b, and c vs d in round one
a and d win, so a vs d in round 2 etc
That is how everything will work.
I still don't see what's wrong with a free-for-all, though.
Why would FF increase your ping?

The free-for-all would work like this:
(ex: Demoman has 5 players)
There are two separate 1-on-1 matches.
The winners face each other.
OH NO! THERE'S A THIRD PERSON!
He is the third person in the free-for-all.
That is how this tournament will work unless someone has a better idea.

I GET IT! But it won't work with TF2. Even with FF on FF isn't actually like real killing. Its a hair harder to do. You know because you have to compensate for lag.

it doesn't
normally, when you shoot someone, the server takes latency into account to see if you hit. if you point at someone and shoot you hit

if you're both on the same team, it doesn't take latency into account, so you'll have to lead your target, how much you need to lead depends on the pings of the players

since my ping's "pretty high", you'd need to aim pretty far ahead to hit me

that's also why i get most of my TKs as heavy, when i'm shooting and someone runs in front of me, i don't see it untill they're already there and dead

Oh.
Then there can just be (for the Demoman instance) two 1-on-1 matches.
Those two winners face each other.
The winner of that match faces the extra player.
How is that?
