Little note on people who installed AVA to get the knife

Post by Axis Denied » Thu Feb 16, 2012 8:00 pm

People might be exaggerating it, but beware that it also comes with something called GameGuard (info on it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NProtect_GameGuard ):
GameGuard hides the game application process, monitors the entire memory range, terminates applications defined by the game vendor and INCA Internet to be cheats (QIP for example), blocks certain calls to DirectX functions and Windows APIs, keylogs your keyboard input, and auto-updates itself to change as new threats surface.

Apparently, it can be tricky to remove, but here's some information on it: http://www.brighthub.com/video-games/pc ... /1709.aspx

Just a heads up.

Also, I tried that on Brighthub and even with folders and files not being hidden, I didn't see those two files and my registry didn't even have that branch. Also, that article was written in 2009, so it either of changed or fixed since then.

I checked everything after uninstalling it and I see nothing bad. Outdated article is outdated.

They're overreacting alright. Yes, gameguard can be a PITA to get rid of, but there are far worse anti-cheat programs out there that MMOs use.

I used to play flyff and maplestory, gameguard was never a problem for me.
