CS:GO Custom Maps

Post by jermm » Sat Aug 18, 2012 6:01 pm

Post custom maps that you want on the server.

Please make sure they aren't broken.

More formal criteria will be added later. (Probably by someone else)

Sites I have been looking at:
http://csgo.gamebanana.com/maps
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/f ... php?f=1413

Maps we have right now
"cs_downed_b2"
"cs_crackhouse_b1"
"de_citato_venice" (This map might be making the screen blurry, have to pull up buy menu for a second to fix)
"de_westwood"
"cs_assault_coolion1"

maps that did not work:
//"de_sultan2_beta1"
//"de_aurelia_beta1"
//"de_alexandra_beta2"

So far i've been only going with maps that have at least a max player limit of 40, with the gamebanana website i can see the max player number without having to download the map and add a bunch of bots. If you are creating a map i suggest you support at least 64 players, which i believe just involves having enough spawns.

It's unclear what kinds of maps we do and do not want. I was sort of forced to go with the current maps since many of the maps have a low max player number.

Edit: For admins who upload maps: There is a checklist for you to follow. CS:GO has some unusual requirements for adding maps that you will not expect.

Another easy and fast way to get new maps is to server jump and DL new content. if it's fun, balanced or otherwise seems like a good map for the server then upload it

Was just poking around in my old maps folder last night and I have about 4 (pretty cool!) maps anywhere from halfway done to 75%, might try to put some work in on em in the next few days/weeks and see if I can finish them, then maybe we can try to round up some people to test them.

I think someone mentioned before that you can use Portal's world portal brush in CS:GO mapmaking?

like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xFbRecjKQA

I don't have the game so I haven't looked at the tools you get in Hammer, but is this true?

I seriously wish west_wood would die in a fire.
Because, since you don't know me, there is a great possibility that I'm on an higher intellectuel level then you are on.

It's more overplayed than roof time, by a lot.

Hey I joined your guys' server earlier today to look for a place to post my map, it's pretty basic, it's a textured map because i'm still learning all the hammer editing and don't feel comfortable going crazy cause i don't want random leaks that cause players to crash or anything extreme like that.

here's the link:
http://csgo.gamebanana.com/maps/168166

let me know what you think through a private message or a reply :)
and i'd love if you added it into rotation.

P.S. it's a AR/GG map idk much about servers and if you guys can change the gametype or how that works

Thanks,
AP

Having issues making the nav file.

The nav file is inside the map itself. I packed it into the map with pakrat.

Ugh, dev textures

Still, looks interesting enough to play a little, would much prefer a textured version though, very basic ones at the least, doesn't have to be glorious eye candy.
