You don't spawn with a gun in all servers, but I found a couple where you spawn with a makarov and an m21 or a G17 and an M16

Also I crawled into a barn and found a crossbow.

I would suggest getting dayz commander. Basically a front-end server browser. It also installed the game Mod for you. Before the steam release

Walrus, narwal and I have been playing on the reddit server instead of wading through shit servers trying to find one we can all get into and so far we've had no problems connecting.

Walrus and I were able to meet up, if you're gonna hop on let us know and we'll try to rendezvous.

Playing the Dayz Breaking Point mod now. 600+ guns and new monsters and also tasers so we can fuck with each other without actually killing one another.

I suggest you use play with6 to install the mod. Download and install takes about 10 minutes using it. If you manage to do all that, get in mumble and hop on US 48 with us.
