Heroin Babies! (aka: opiate fecal impaction)

Last night someone, perhaps Dimethylmorphine, made some opiate related comment. In typical .j2 fashion and as the voices in my head are want to do, i mentioned something about opiate use causing peoples poop to be, "as large as and as gentle as a cinder block."

Here's what i was talking about.

Doing a bit of cursory reading, it seems that opiates have a way of causing your intestines to slow or all but stop the motion it uses to push food product through. Hence, it's not uncommon for people with an opiate issue to not have to have a bowel movement for days.

One of my professors showed us a video about a man who got extremely depressed from a breakup (or divorce) and refused to leave his bed, even to use the bathroom. A massive fecal impaction caused him to contract sepsis and die.
