Re: Fallout 4 (releases November 10th, 2015)
Oh man, thank god fallout is all about the gameplay and not the story.
Because that trailer was sooo bad. Admirable effort was put to show the scripted story
events the LEAST ammount possible. Even the face animations look bad

No yeah if anyone here thinks the facial animations are alright then holy shit you are kidding yourself, like Bethesda's been known for having buggy games but you know what's always been worse than the bugs?
The animations concocted by the half-baked animator friend of the founder who was hired when the company was tiny, and kept in a leadership role, when he simply did not have the skills to keep up with the explosive rise the company had. You'd think the talent they'd hired on would help move past his own inability, yet here we are.
Also from what I'm hearing out of the leak (couple peeps have been streaming the whole game), it's basically to Fallout 3 what Skyrim was to Oblivion, that is to say, you thought the casualization couldn't be doubled, not like last time, but oh my god Todd Howard's done it again. My prediction: I'm going to play it for 110 hours and be going "ugh" every ten minutes, and be totally peeved off, and yet I'll just keep opening it and lose control of my life because I am an addict.

I feel like what really always gets me down is the tidal wave of americana
I don't remember fallout 1 or 2 being that cartoonishly 50s, i just remember it having like vague references to a retrofuturistic past as opposed to like HERE IN AMERICA LAND EVERY THING IS AMERICA, SODA POP AND THE REPUBLIC MARCHES ON
but honestly its not a big big deal, fallout was always a little bit cheesy

yeah, they suck balls. No stepping around that mess.Neelpos wrote:No yeah if anyone here thinks the facial animations are alright then holy shit you are kidding yourself
I'm gonna bet that in a year's time there will be at least one mod attempting to bring back your precious complexity, Neel. :vNeelpos wrote:Also from what I'm hearing out of the leak (couple peeps have been streaming the whole game), it's basically to Fallout 3 what Skyrim was to Oblivion, that is to say, you thought the casualization couldn't be doubled, not like last time, but oh my god Todd Howard's done it again. I didn't mind it with Skyrim, it's more than likely i won't mind it here. Not like Fallout 3 was very complicated in the first place, anyhow. (NV was better on that front, imo)
If a mod comes out that brings back Fallout 1-2 levels of complexity, yeah, i'll try that out at least, but otherwise i'll be fine with what's in store here. 3 types of damage resistance is better than the single catchall we had with 3/NV, and the ways they're consolidating the skills into the perk map (and getting rid of those frankly useless perks (hello level up/EXP perks!)) is pretty good in my (un)professional opinion. Plus, we can mod our guns and armor to give them better stats/sidegrade them, which is bueno and a whole lot better than NV's gun modding. Can't forget the return to Oblivion's separate armor pieces either.
in short, put a sock in it and learn how2mod when the GECK comes out if you're still dissatisfied :V

Re: Fallout 4 (releases November 10th, 2015)
no man neel cannot be caught DEAD playing a game for casuals
i knew it would happen but i guess i don't mind at all??? i really liked oblivion AND skyrim, so i'm sure i'll like this.
given the modding community for these games, i'm sure one of the first big mods will be a speech animation fixup cause god yeah those are bad
other than that, viva la hype
