tl;dr: WOLVES HUNT IN PACKS

Image

The quickie:
  • Release set for January 2016
Dark Arisen version of the game
Available on steam with "full platform support" (full steamworks support?)
    $30
"High-res graphics" and "Improved fidelity" - whatever the fuck that means
    360/xbone controller support
    traditional mouse + keyboard "support"
Full press release: http://www.capcom-unity.com/gregaman/bl ... ming-to-pc
VIEW CONTENT:
As of January 2016, the epic fantasy action-RPG Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen will be available on Windows PC for $29.99 / € 29.99 / £ 24.99, with full Steam platform support. Huzzah!

In case you missed it on console, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is an awesome, inspired, sprawling fantasy game set in an open world, where players create their own unique character and supporting, AI-controlled characters known as Pawns, which can be “rented” and shared online by other players. Battle giant mythical beasts, master a variety of distinct vocations, and explore atmospheric dungeons to uncover endless items and loot.

The PC version will feature stunningly high-res graphics and improved fidelity, as well as support for both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One controllers, as well as a traditional keyboard and mouse control scheme.
I love Dragons Dogma. Here's my pros/cons:
+Character creation
+Pawn system is neat
+Cool monster encounters
+Story is different
+World design is pretty good
+I like the combat

-Some game content was locked behind a 'rift crystal' system
-This will be the third time I've bought the game
-CAPCOM
-Console port - no idea what to expect
-World seems large at first, but is actually pretty small

SO WAIT A MINUTE! JUST WHAT IS A DRAGONS DOGMA?
Dragons Dogma is an open world action RPG (what isn't these days). You make your character, choose your class, create a pawn, hire other peoples pawns, and set out in the world to kill big monsters and cuckold the king. You have vocations (classes), skills, stats, and stat growth (stats are a little simplistic though). You fight small monsters and bandits that you can throw off cliffs, and big monsters like ogres and chimeras that you can climb all over.

You can swing big swords, or maybe carry a shield or a couple of daggers. Spells in this game can be BIG (see the end of my third video below). Also your pawn learns its battle actions from you, so if you're useless in a fight, expect your pawn to be as well.

Here's some videos I've made with the PS3 version:

Here's a video that demonstrates a sorcerer spell in combat a little better than my video:

Always wanted to try Dragon's Dogma but never got around to buying it. Hoping the port is good for this, what's CAPCOM's track record with them?

Now is this the original Dragon's Dogman with a bunch of extra stuff like Dark Souls 2 did with Scholar of the First Sin? The subtitle 'Dark Arisen' is making me a bit unsure.

Basically Dragons Dogma was released 22 May 2012. A year later, they added some content, but re-released the WHOLE GAME with the extra content instead of just making it DLC or an expansion pack or something. So if you wanted the Dark Arisen content, you had to rebuy the whole game. The original game + additional content is called Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen. This is the version of the game that the PC will be receiving.

Also I think CAPCOM ports range from tremendously horrendous to mediocre, with the occasional port that's alright.

This game was SWAK on the ps3

You should have mention more about the game's identity crisis with very classic mid-90s JRPGS.
A return to form.

PC Gameplay Video. Gonna be happy I'll be able to play this game without those stupid black borders and 60fps. It had some tight animations.

Fun with goblins @ 3:30.

Night time fun with a chimera a pinch after 5:40

By the way, don't be like this guy and pick shit up in the middle of fights. Your pawn learns from your actions, so pretty soon it will start picking shit up in fights instead of actually fighting.

It's not hard, but it can be punishing. Like just running around in the woods at night usually leads to your death, but if walk cautiously through the woods at night, you'll be better off.
