Oregan Trail = Source?

Post by MouseR » Mon Jan 09, 2006 12:06 am

Am I the only who think this timeless classic should be ported to the source engine? Why hasen't this been done? The endless possibilities, hunting in 3D and first person view in the wagon.

Anyone with me on this one?

Wasn't there a 3d Oregon Trail a while back? The best one was the one for the Mac years ago.

So negative, of course it would be much different in the end product than it's predecessor. The overall feel and gameplay would be intact...hunting, traveling, catching diseases, trading, and asking for help.

I would think the game would have forks in the road, problems along the way, and the environment would have much more to offer than just to travel through. I am not a game designer...but there are people out there who have a bigger imagination than I, so they would be able to pull this off without a hitch...possiably.

Defend from indians while in the wagon.
Battle it out with your sister when you run out of food, and then eat her when you've killed her.
Knife a bear.
Awp a squirrel.
Keep your wagon afloat in the river to avoid losing valuable storage items.
Travel river rapids.
Build a fire at night that will last so you don't get ambushed.

All in all, not exciting, but quite nostalgiac. Probably not worth the work it would require.
