I'm trying to build the Simmon's mansion from the 1966 film "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken." It is a large mansion that is supposedly haunted. The house is the main location of the movie starring Don Knotts.

So far the building of the map is going so so but I think the finished product will be good.

Anybody else want to share their ideas?

Yes actually, I'm mapping the insides of my dream house. I'll post a screen of the main hall soon

I would suggest finishing your map before October 9th, because otherwise you would be too busy playing the Orange Box.

I'm going to start it on the 10th so I can rip all the new episode 2 models and throw them in my map. Wasn't there even a pumpkin in one of the ep2 preview videos?

You know what, forget what I said in the 3rd post. I don't think i'll do cs_nightmare. Like, ever. I'll incorporate the same ideas/scares into a new map i'm currently collecting more ideas for, but i'll let de_nightmare be the only map with 'nightmare' in the title. So, goodbye cs_nightmare, hello de_deadblock!

Here is the main hall. I have some lighting to tweak to make it spookier, maybe add a few props and shit but you get the main idea of my dreamhouse.

Yeah maybe I should change the texturing of the walls and the ceiling.
If I want to change the long carpet, I'll have to find a texture myself because there is only one stocked one.

However, I do need the wooden beams that support that platform like thing above the point where I took the screenshot from. These beams are very similar to the ones of de_xmas_hotel.
Anyone has a suggestion on what else I could use to "support" that platform?

I'm not sure I'm gonna add a secret here. But what do you understand as a reward anyways? A dancefloor is Nipper's idea and I don't want to be a copycat (even though I like secret dancefloors, they're Nipper's idea...)

maybe make like a tree effect with the supports to change the look a little

it should cast some cool shadows too depending on your lighting
