Once again, scientific journalism ftl.
I think that it should be mandatory that when discussing anything new that is science related to only link to credible websites.

Yeah I thought the arguments in this thread were pretty stupid on both sides. Not that I really care either way.

Yeah but you were still being douchey about it and should have realized how futile arguing with joe is. I even agreed with you a few pages back, but it was drowned in all the doucheyness from everyone else.

Some of your reasoning was pretty flawed, though.Funny Hat Man wrote:Yeah well I usually don't lay down when I'm not wrong lol, especially when you smile gracefully as someone else loses their shit

Relax, I don't hold grudges. It's not like I had my own facts to support otherwise.... I just have keen eye for bullshit I suppose, can't honestly believe me of all people think half that shit lol. I'm completely aware of the environmental impact but I'm also aware of humanities perseverance in the face of disaster. We'll be fine. Was it a little too much to be optimistic?

Re: BP spill could wipe out humanity, cause mass extinctions
i guess everyone else didn't notice his comment that the ocean is big
as if a hundred million gallons of oil broken down into droplets isn't enough to fill half the atlantic ocean
as if the ecology isn't a complex web of interactions that are linked throughout the entire globe and oil in the gulf affects everything in the food chain on the planet
as if we hadn't spent that last 50+ years destroying the oceans already so they are barely sustainable
as if all life on the planet doesn't depend on the ocean.

I don't care if the "end of everything hysteria" on the oil spill is true or not, I just hope it pushes toward a better, non-oil future. Doubt it but if you piss off the American people enough, anything can happen.
I'm just sick of hearing oil sympathizes & so called realists that claim oil is utterly unavoidable. What bullshit.

were all correct on their doomsday theory...joe wrote:scientists and their decades of education and experience backed up by rigorous published peer-reviewed data
Indeed.joe wrote:i fucking hate stupid people who think they are smarter than actual professional scientists
Also, considering the spill hasn't even breached half a million barrels and the Atlantic ocean holds 17 quadrillion gallons of water.... we might make it through! Life finds a way, gaw haven't you ever seen Jurassic park?!

Yes. I have a shitty personality. I'm the huge asshole for trying to talk sense into people years older than me that were spewing bullshit about the end of the Earth. I was also right lol
