Many PC gamers have lobbied both EA and Valve to put Battlefield 3 on Steam for a while now. It looks like it’ll finally happen soon.

If this happens I'll be so happy.

I doubt thats gonna happen. Like, why would EA allow steam to take over the digital sales? If that was the case it would be tantamount to murder for their Origin service.

Compromise: Origin becomes free download on Steam

Pretty much this.

If it does happen, I think it will be the same as with games such as Bioshock 2 or Street Fighter IV, where in order to play the game you have to log in to two separate content services: Steam and Windows Live.

So, you'll have it on Steam, but you'll still be forced to have and use Origins.

Personally, I hate nothing more than having to log into multiple services to play a game - and in the end, my real complaint is really not wanting to use Origins, ever. So, we'll see.

If it still requires Origin there's no point

Steam did/does the same thing that EA is doing now by forcing you to use there program to play a game and id much rather have BF3 on strictly origin then steam needing to log into origin like that GTA4 Bullshit with live and social club.

I dont see EA using steam exclusively and I bet if it is that it is exactly how Ofloathing put it, it will need you to sign into origin while on steam which would be stupid and way worse then just using origin.

I dont understand whats to hate with origin, its new and so far i like how it works and think its a good direction even though its battling with steam but steam started off to be shit and everyone hated it but everyone used it because CS/tfc/etc

That shit in the TOS about giving information on things outside of the game to third parties was probably made specifically if someone is hacking or fucking around with shit they shouldn't, that if EA catches them they can use the information on what the person was using and give it to third party companies(punkbuster) Blizzard did the same thing with Warden.

If you dont like BF3 then its fine and doesnt matter, but if you like BF3 but refuse to buy it because of origin is just something i dont understand, its a login screen and some load times. It would be awesome if it was just going to be on steam strictly but its not.

All this hate just reminds me of the whole CS 1.5 ----> 1.6+steam transition. Remember how bad steam really was and remember how many years it stayed bad, think of the old friends system that never worked for like 4-5 years.

Still the server shit is a poor move cant deny that.

what's to hate with origin is the incredibly invasive EULA, their policies about banning for cheating (valve VAC bans you from 1 game only, not every game you ever bought), the bugs and general problems EA has with handling accounts that most people have run into, Origin's uselessness (it serves no purpose other than giving EA a footprint on your PC), and that's off the top of my head. i'm sure there are more.
