i'm suggesting that we don't know anything about DOTA2's cost

all there is is that some random swedish vendor put up a price of $50 for a preorder of it, but that hasn't been confirmed by any reliable source

Personally I think that the business model of $50-$60 games is falling out of style for online games, or maybe I'm just a cheap skate who doesn't want to pay for any old game that has as high likelihood of being terrible and not replayable as it does being awesome forever. Microtransaction-based profits are, in my opinion, an extremely good business model for something that is as fragile to criticism as online games. When it comes down to it, it paints a more reliable picture of the playerbase's loyalty to that certain company. If they are making huge profits in microtransactions that anyone who has enjoyed their game can perform after they've tried it for some kind of extra, then in my opinion they're doing a whole lot better than a one time offer of $50-$60 for everything, just to take the money and run.
