True Combat mod for quake3

Post by breakerfall » Fri Dec 12, 2003 12:43 pm

I know there are a few CS like mods out there for Quake and other games, but I haven't seen this one before. It looks pretty nice. The current build is 1.1 and it's approximately 65 megs to download. It seems to be mission based. I'm downloading it now to give it a try:

list of some of the features:

* Tactical mode wherein you aim using the iron sights of the actual gun; read: no crosshairs.
* Two teams, different mission objectives, emphasising realistic team tactics.
* Scriptable mission objectives in maps.
* The ability for different weapons to penetrate different objects with varying degrees of success.
* Realistic sounds for both enviroment and player.
* The addition of C4 and smoke grenades to your arsenal.
* New attachment system for weapon upgrades (scopes, silencers, laser sights, etc.).
* Brand spankin' new models for the weapons and player.
* A host of new animations for weapon reloads, player movement, etc.
* Realistic lens flares, glare, and flash blend effects.
* Multilayer bullet penetration system.
* Freeclimb
* Voice commands for quick communication with teammates.
* The choice between 4 different huds, including the old-school flavor from previous builds.

A couple of screenies:

Just thought some people might be interested. I've yet to ask someone/twist their arm into making quake 3 maps ;-)

hmmm, did someie just turn that light on, or did i just have an idea.

knoid and gameovers server box that they're looking at. i heard it could run 3 game servers.
with cs2, and knoids idea of a kannonball server, and us looking to expand the community, would it be a good idea to have a quake3 or mod in the third space? it has to be an option to look at, cos we can barely fill the cs servers we have, and the other mods we play often either don't get played too much through laziness, or don't get played cos only us know about them.

anyway, back on topic, that looks fucking awsome!!!
i think i'm gonna go crazy and spend the £10 on quake, right before i buy bf1942!!!

That's weird... they were working :| I used html code because I knew it would display on the home page... oh well.

Yeah, the mod looks awesome. It plays well too :) At first, I thought I wouldn't be too keen on not seeing the cross hair in normal mode (because this is a realism mod) but it's well fun. You switch to sights mode and you start raking in the kills. Headshots here etc etc. It's more realistic than CS, but I still enjoyed it.

DC's awesome too, was playing that from 2am till nearly 7am the other day.
