hm, I thought about a military base, but something like it would have been attacked by some weird creatures, so it would look pretty frightening.
else I could stick to the classic abandonned village map, or make a nightmare world.

lol, I'm reading the article about level design mkz posted some months ago (yeah, I checked a couple topic here) didn't know dust was made by a noob in mapping XD
It was only once I finished the layout of Destiny that I thought about the bomb locations
LMFAO

just thought about a thing, if I make a tdm map (I mean a complex and strategical one >_> ) will players play it strategically, or like any random crappy speed map?

Can anyone tell me what causes my shadows to be greenish like you see on the shot? Lighting is acting quite weird on my map. The problems are not really that obvious but it's annoying. I did build the cubemaps and I'm compiling with HDR on. Sometimes I see reflections of a certain light in a totally different room.

That has to do with the ambient light in your light_environment or any near by light entities that may have some effect on shadows.

Hmmm It's probably because of that. There is a small... area somewhere below my map in which the player is totally surounded by the sky. Maybe that's the problem. Can I block this with areaportals? It's the only place on the map with the sky texture.

You haven't seen the rest. The map is not creepy as lets say Doom 3 or Ravenholm in HL2, but I do my best. Making really creepy stuff is not easy.

if it's a cs:s map, I won't be able to see the whole map unless someone does a video.
and yes, I expect giving a creepy atmosphere to be hard to do

I found out something some of you may find useful (please note the word may)
While fucking around to find a way to block bullets from any weapon through a thin wall for... a certain reason, I found on Google that the best thing to do is to create two thin brushes against each other, give every face a glass texture (I used combine glass) and turn each brush into a seperate func_wall. It blocks everything, even the machine gun.

And a thicker wall that is no func_wall and that has the lets say (worthless) BLOCK BULLET texture won't stop gunfire. The above method stops all bullets. I tried it out.

Yeah well this may be old news for some of you, but I didn't know it and I was damn happy to find that method.

The old method was according to how many layers had. 1 brush stopped most pistol and 9mm fire, 2 brushes stopped the rifle rounds, and 3 shots stopped the awp. Did they change it to have bullet penetration be material based instead?

So who all is still in this and how far along are they?

I still haven’t finished the structure of mine but once that’s done the fun stuff usually goes by pretty fast.

I'm still in, although mapping has been a bit slow lately, things have been picking up. Plus, i'll have the house to myself for the next two weeks, so I can map without distractions. Another plus, schoolwork isn't a big issue this quarter, so that won't get in the way like it did for the abstract map pack. So yeah, i'm still in this.
