Critical Hits

Post by A Ninja » Fri Nov 16, 2007 10:32 pm

I was bored and checked out the steam forums, and I found this out about crit hits in TF2
The effects of this 'super crits' timezone are barely noticeable in a regular game due to the crit chance being so small (0.05). But with the crit chance higher this crit multiple they use becomes more pronounced, and it definitely does exist. However it is not as they would have you believe, you do not get more crits for being skilled, you get more crits for killing a couple people around the same time, or its probably safe to say, a 'double kill.'
Here's the full thing

Too early to tell if the guys is right or not, but it seems possible.

Very very cool. Games are very interesting when you try to break them down and figure out the exact maths. This guy has the right idea I think. Also the more you know about a game, the more you can mod it and create better plugins. ;)

He is right, this is obvious when playing Pyro or Heavy when you see the critical hit >10 times in a row.

If you keep hit'n, you keep crit'n.

I propose that we disable random crits on tf4. It's stupid, random bullshit that takes away from the fun of the game. let the arguing commence!
I asked David Geffen personally if he'd donate to TF4 for me, but he wouldn't do it

I propose we launch dmitri off a mountain via trebuchet

Thematically, crits make perfect sense. Does the cast of tf2 honestly seem like a "professional" group of mercenaries? No. They seem like a bunch of inept nutjobs with killing sticks. Even classes like Spy and Medic, are not exactly the most reasonable people. SO, does it really seem that unreasonable that they'd be able to randomly land a critical blow on their foes?

Can't we all just play and leave the bitching to tumblr?
Steam is BLU_Collar, PSN is GGLinear, and my LoL account name is Somber Rites.

It's been years since I've spoken with any of you, but if you ever want to play or just talk, feel free to contact me.

we have so many people agreeing that random crits are a piece of bullshit and even some senior admins (cough why cough), isn't this enough consensus to at least try disabling them?

You and Bash are the only people who have said anything of that nature, both here and in the other thread that Bash made himself. I don't play TF2 anymore so I don't really care either way but open consensus is more important in these matters than hearsay.
