I would like to add that I too, am seeing a lot of work not getting done around here. It gets to a voting process and usually stops.

I have no idea how our servers work, I basically just whine until someone else makes something happen- that's what the various polls were for, I don't have much stake in our servers right now.

Re: Karaoke Requests!!
it's not really that hard to mess with them, especially do just turn things off. just ask on irc for help, and keep track of what you did so if you break something, someone can fix it

The vanilla server idea caused everyone to freak the fuck out IIRC.
If this karaoke vote gets a clear delete consensus then we will remove the plugin

Re: Karaoke Requests!!
Thats a point I would like to bring up. I can mute people (and do quite a bit) but I cant just click mute the Karaoke. Why should I be forced to "hack" my own computer to block what sums up to be basically music spam?joe wrote:it's not really that hard to mess with them, especially do just turn things off. just ask on irc for help, and keep track of what you did so if you break something, someone can fix it
How about a compromise, set it so karaoke can never be used more than once a hour, and no repeating songs that were played the last hour. That or come up with a way that someone can just click mute it, and hide the words from the screen (they distract from play IMHO)
"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man - Thomas Jefferson

Hmm...the karaoke limit may not be that bad of an idea. Once an hour might be too stretched out, but it would keep it from being too overplayed.Overbear wrote:Thats a point I would like to bring up. There is actually a setting that can prevent sound files from being downloaded. As far as i know, when karaoke starts, if you don't have the mp3 file, you won't hear the song.
The idea of a mute button is a good idea for people that don't want to participate.

Re: Karaoke Requests!!
How about if Bl4nk is willing, to write a plug-in that enables the user to bind a karaoke mute command to a key via the console?

Re: Karaoke Requests!!
the only time i like karaoke is when the server is almost empty, at like 3am, its kind of fun to listen to music with people while we play
i think karaoke on a FULL server is not good
in addition to or instead of the 1 hour time limit, i'd use a population limit - no karaoke with more than 12 people on the server?
