BP spill could wipe out humanity, cause mass extinctions

Post by joe » Mon Jul 12, 2010 8:09 am

http://www.crunchgear.com/2010/07/11/ha ... xtinction/
according to theories posited by the author of this piece, Terrance Aym, and backed up by data from geo-chemists like Northwestern University’s Gregory Ryskin, the BP oil spill could release massive amounts of methane gas and, as an end result, blow out the entire seabed, leading to “massive venting” and large fissures in the sea bottom. This, in turn, would kill us all just as other mass extinctions wiped out life on earth during similar ruptures 251 million years ago and 55 million years ago.

In short, here’s what’s up:

The bottom line: BP’s Deepwater Horizon drilling operation may have triggered an irreversible, cascading geological Apocalypse that will culminate with the first mass extinction of life on Earth in many millions of years.

Never hear of natural gas being able to ignite underwater either... probably because it can't...

you should email the scientists and explain to them why their decades of education and experience backed up by rigorous published peer-reviewed data are all wrong. then tell fox news and you will be famous!

in other news, i fucking hate stupid people who think they are smarter than actual professional scientists

Aren't you the guy that diagnosed himself with a sleeping disorder? Yeah... because what do doctors know?! pff

The same people that have been drilling for over 100 years are still in control today, same knowledge and even greater sense of the Earth and how shit works....

THIS HUGE OIL FUCK UP STILL HAPPENED. Couple scientists were probably aboard the horizon.. holy hell are they not to blame? and Professional scientist? anyone ever explain to you that just because someone is in that role doesn't mean they know a fuckin thing? They paid their tuition and showed up to class... awesome.

Presidents, etc?

they can't even agree on the fucking flow its coming out at, they haven't perfected knowing the fucking weather yet.... how the fuck can you tell me they can forecast an apocalypse.

Fuck now it turns out the oil spill restarted global cooling! oh fuck! be afraid!

Too much theory spewing from do-nothing check cashers at these cockleague schools.

If anything wouldn't the release of this methane from a pressurized pocket under the Earth make more sense?? Can't really combust when its strewn about the entire ocean

lol you got every single thing wrong in that post. here's just one tiny salient fact since you're the type of person who makes shit up and then tells people it's fact:

the blowout and explosion occurred because:
they used cheap pipe to save money
they ignored small leaks weeks before the explosion
they didn't use the correct safety devices
they didn't bother to maintain any of the safety equipment

etc. etc. etc. although this post is most likely futile because you obviously don't really care about reality too much

too many "could" and "would" if you ask me

but yeah, it goes without saying that this has some consequences, although i think "IT'S GOING TO KILL US ALL" is a bit much

Who are "they" exactly? Just all untrained roughnecks? None of them were trained or experienced? Not one scientist or engineer had anything to say?

they don't hire scientists to install and repair blowout valves...

also they made the decision to increase the risk and lower costs. why would they hire a scientist to tell them what they already knew?

i know you're busy defending BP from people but during your break watch this video
