Bloodkraze, have you been getting that "action cannot be performed" message while attacking quest mobs? I'll do one attack then get swarmed by all the quest monsters without being able to fight back. It's pretty annoying. It might be lag and I'm not close enough to the monster to keep attacking.

Well there are some quest mobs, like the stumbling funguars (the ones after the first quest) that come in packs of 3s and theres no way to avoid it, gotta be careful not to die with those.

Is there a vault or something where I can store my items im not using? my inventory is almost full and I still need to go out and get more crafting materials.

Bloodkraze wrote:Yeah, theres a lot of japanese mixed in.. like theres this one buff on my screen that shows a sword and shield that has 20 japanese characters in it.

Edit: Whatever that sword and shield is, it's fucking up my game. I can't change any of my gear it just says "That action cannot be performed". And my health won't regenerate.... this is pissing me off, now I'm stuck as a miner who keeps getting attacked by monsters while I'm trying to mine.
it might be telling you that your gear is worn down and has to be repaired

I finally got a key and I'm downloading everything. I'll make a character on the server you suggested.

After spending a lot of time learning I'm finally getting the hang of everything. Everything would go MUCH faster if there wasn't menu and mouse lag.

I'm also pissed at crystal/shards, how the hell am I supposed to do any crafting if i have 250 earth shards but only 1 wind shard...

I found this guide on FF14. Its pretty comprehensive. Worth checking out if you are confused about anything.

I found this guide to actually be the best so far. It's easiest on the eyes, extremely easily to navigate and it seems spot on for what's required for recipes. It's sort of like Thottbot for those who know what that is.

This deserves it's own double post. I would make it it's own topic but there isn't a specified FFXIV forum.

Here is a mouse fix that fixes mouse lag. No more slow moving mouse! it's still in the experimental stage, but there's been some great responses towards it.

video of it working (servers were down at the time, that's why you don't see it in game).

I'm not sure if I'm gonna commit myself to the PC version just yet, I'm probably gonna wait for the PS3 version to come out, then buy one of the two. I finally got around to starting my game anyway, and I'm sooooooooooo lost :S

In the meantime, anyone try out the Final Fantasy XIV Benchmark? I got:

I've committed. Put in my $55 pre-order earlier today... it's all I had for trade-in credit. Also for the benchmark I got like 2900 or 3000 or something.

I think I'll be keeping my preorder, even though there's still a ton of stuff I don't understand haha.

I got a 3200 on my benchmark, 1700 on high
