It could go either way. It could be a stunt orchestrated by Sony to have more of a reason to not only persue Anon for damages, but to also get the US government to trace them and REALLY rape them. Or it could be a action of Anon to get the Sony fans to denounce them, as for the info they "may" have, I don't know.Rat-morningstar wrote:word's going around that is was an "anonymous" action

# Your name (Don't care)
# Your address (city, state, and zip)(Don't care, if someone wants to pay me a visit to rob me then they'll be having a meal of M16 muzzel for dinner and shitting out 5.56 rounds)
# Country (Don't care)
# E-mail address (I get enough spam as is, so I know what to delete)
# Birthday (Don't care)
# PSN password and login name (Don't care since i've only accessed my account from one ip the entire time. If I find out I can't log-in i'll just contact support.)
The only thing I don't know about is my card PSN has on record since I am a PS1 classics whore. It is actually a debit card and is attached to a online bank account so I can oversee any and all deposits and withdrawals. Would there be anything someone could do with it that I wouldn't be able to see on my online bank account?

---Sony wrote:The entire credit card table was encrypted and we have no evidence that credit card data was taken. The personal data table, which is a separate data set, was not encrypted, but was, of course, behind a very sophisticated security system that was breached in a malicious attack.
tl;dr version: Credit Card information was encrypted while everything else was plaintext.Sony wrote:While all credit card information stored in our systems is encrypted and there is no evidence at this time that credit card data was taken, we cannot rule out the possibility. If you have provided your credit card data through PlayStation Network or Qriocity, out of an abundance of caution we are advising you that your credit card number (excluding security code) and expiration date may have been obtained. Keep in mind, however that your credit card security code (sometimes called a CVC or CSC number) has not been obtained because we never requested it from anyone who has joined the PlayStation Network or Qriocity, and is therefore not stored anywhere in our system.

personally Id say no one is winning in this situation, considering Xbox players are being phished on a far more consistent basis
yeah, PSN being down is annoying, but the knowledge that the CC info WAS encrypted and that its not looking like they got that info makes this far more tolerable

they said that there's no evidence that anything like taht was taken as it was on a completely separate area and was encrypted there. MasterWholigans made a post about it here

Ah ok. Just scrolled up and read it. I'm breathing a little easier but still seing news reports that the hackers claimed they got credit card info. Might just be e-peen flexing though.Pentagram.J2 wrote:they said that there's no evidence that anything like taht was taken as it was on a completely separate area and was encrypted there. Canceled mine anyway, dealing with the ramifications of THAT pain in the ass now.
People making videos about throwing away their PS3's are just being moronic. I don't jump to Apple when a new Windows virus comes out, and from what I know Xbox is a lot less secure, just because of it's links to everything Microsoft on PC's - the same info used for GFWL and Hotmail, for example.
