What are some good flight simulators?

Re: Flight Simulators
Easy and fun: Microsoft simulator.
Detailed: X-Plane is another one that I and use, mostly because I can design airfoils with it and take 'em on test flights. :P
There's some Russian military one that was pretty awesome and surprisingly accurate in aerodynamics, unlike Microsoft. X-Plane is pretty good about being accurate with aerodynamics, realistic weight and speeds as well.
Tip: get a joystick. Just a basic cheap one, $20 or under.

I forgot to tell you, I'm going to start taking lessons and hopefully get my license when I turn 17 (That's the age, right?). I had my first introductory lesson last week in a Cesta single engine trainer. I'm just looking at flight simulators to pass my spare time, by the way.

oooommmmmgggggggggggg yayyyyyyy
Is it a Cessna 152 or 172?
For your written exams, study ASA's Private Pilot textbook ($12 or so) OR do Sporty's Study Buddy with me.
GETCHO' PREVAT NAOW.
I'd be happy to help you with meteorology, flight operations and aerodynamics questions. Regulations I'm kind of fuzzy with, might be nice to brush up on those.
Gawd I need to get back in the air.

It was a 152.
Thank you for the tips.

Re: Flight Simulators
I got my license 2 years ago and it was pretty awesome. If you're interested in detailed systems on airplanes and want to practice all the advanced stuff Microsoft Flight Simulator just has way more addons that are useful. Mostly if you want to practice airline and real-time things it can't be beat, but X-plane is the most realistic for aerodynamics and such.
When I was getting my license the best thing I did was practice every maneuver & flight at the same airport I would be training at and you get it down easy. Playing flight simulator since i was like 12 up until I got my license at like 24 made it a breeze also...it will really save you money. Get on VATSIM too if you want to practice some real time flying/atc!

Re: Flight Simulators
will have to try that game ^^^^^.
I will have to say I've been using the CH products yoke for over 10 years now (same one, have banged it up but I've kept it because I'm cheap), but if you have the money there's better. I use the Saitek Flight Control System for a joystick/throttle, which paired with the yoke gives you plenty of button's and dials. If I had the money I would definitely go for some better hardware though, but it's been working pretty sweet for me!

Saitek. I have the X52, which works great. (not enough buttons though)
They've got some higher end products if you can afford them though.

Re: Flight Simulators
IL2 is the russian military one. Just came out with a new version. IL2 Cliffs of Dover, I don't have that one yet. They are WWII combat flight sims. If you like WWI then Rise of Flight is a good one. As far as joysticks the Thrustmaster T.16000M is a really good joystick for under $50. http://www.thrustmaster.com/product.aspx?ProductID=153
