"Alright Player A, you get to be Freeman, heres your Gravity Gun, SMG, pistol, shotgun, revolver, rocket launcher, crossbow, AR2 and your grenades"
"Player B you get to be Alyx, here's your weird pistol thing, have fun"
As for the "no more single player" thing that's really starting to annoy me, people need to stop spreading that stupid rumor and look at what they actually said
i.e. No more single player ONLY games PROBABLY

It is my expectation that when the next HL game comes out, it will be at least 40 hours long, with a separate 20 hour coop campaign, an online 64 player multiplayer game mode, and a 2 hour long movie produced in the Source engine and released in theaters on release night as a prequel to the game.

Neel, I remember hearing Gabe say that they aren't going to make single player games... I hope he meant what you said though

Well when it comes to valve saying something... They say one thing and do something else. They said they hate the way some games take control away from the player and they well never do that; shortly after that the sandman was added to tf2. Valve said something along the lines of not liking microtransactions (can't remember how they said it now, i'm sleeply) then they added the manco store.

Valve can't have a 3 in any title of any of their games.
I'm looking forward to Half-Life 2: Episode 2 (Part 2), though.

The "taking control away" thing had more to do with single player stuff I think, that they disliked it but were lenient with taking control away as long as the ends justified the means (like the advisor scene in Ep2).Velp wrote:Well when it comes to valve saying something... It's still a philosophy they hold, Erik Wolpaw did this thing at NYU I think where he played through the first few chambers of Portal 2 on a projector and commentated on a lot of the decisions and the process that went into creating the game, during the open questioning someone mentions the policy and that there's a part of the ending that seems to take that away from the player, and Erik explains again how it's something they're not fond of doing, but in some rare cases that they believe the story is more important than getting the gameplay right (especially when what you're doing isn't actually a puzzle anyways)
Way to make the joke that everyone has been making for like, years.Wolsk wrote:Valve can't have a 3 in any title of any of their games.

It's still hilarious

who cares? i dislike valve for a lot of things but they consistently set the bar with their games, there's no doubt. just let them make the fucking game, you'll like it when it's out.
except for the manco store, that was the worst thing i've ever seen.

Valve doesn't make games anymore, just 3D renderings of hats.

i thought something happened to the guy who was in charge of HL, like a serious health problem...so instead of firing him and hiring someone else, they are waiting for him to get better?
