No Episode 3 (or any Valve games) at E3 this year

Post by Pentagram.J2 » Wed May 18, 2011 5:40 pm

The studio says it has no booth at the show this year, and insists it's got nothing for us to book an appointment for. I've heard some people from Valve will be in attendance though, so who's to say they're not hiding something under their sleeve?

unless they pull some kind of trick, don't go expecting it :(

It would be pretty legit for them to be all "No we don't have anything this year, sorry", then during one of the press conferences for someone else, such as EA (since they're Valves publisher) the room just goes dark and you hear over the speakers:

"Doc-tor Freeeeeeeemaaaaaaaan..."

I always wondered how different will the world be if valve decided to
stick with a simple ,yet satisfying conclusion for their titles instead of
having all of them end in a fucking cliffhanger.

People wouldn't be going around making a bazillion threads about Episode 3.

Pretty fucking ridiculous to think that they wouldn't have ANYTHING to reveal at this year's E3. I thought the whole idea of the episodic content was to make the games shorter and put them out faster so in the end we got more in less time. Fucking stupid. i had to replay the 2nd half of HL2E2 just to remember what the fuck happened and was going on at all. It's getting to the point where I'm losing interest rather than getting excited. And now it's like we've waited all this time and the next installment is just going to be another episode and not even a full length game? Eps 1 and 2 really weren't that long and I know it's been wayyyy more time in between them this time.

At this point Jason it seems only likely that Episode 3 will be a full length title.

How long is a full length FPS? Seems like it's anywhere from 5 to 20 hours. Episode 2 wasn't overly short. I'm just hoping it's worth the wait...

True, Single player campaigns in FPS games can be quite short, but typically that's if there's more of a focus on multiplayer, which other than mods, Half Life doesn't have, so I tend to hope for it to be on the lengthier side. Neither episode was super short, and they were both pretty fun, but having waited this long and having all of this buildup and really wanting an epic conclusion to the story, I'm really hoping it will be quite a bit longer nah mean.

Valve did say that they aren't going to make an single player only mode anymore... Episode 3 could be very fun in coop, but I've always found playing in game in coop takes away from the story. If it does have coop I'm going to play it by myself before i play with anyone else.

Yeah, as a rule I'll usually try and finish single player before I run through co-op with anyone on a game.

Could be cool though, have had some pretty hilarious times playing HL2 co-op with Synergy.
