Game looks pretty cool, but I don't think I like this... too many games are doing this in-game cost stuff..

I have no clue how you think this would stop farming and not encourage it. It would stop China men from selling items without.blizzard getting a cut and that's about it.

meh it doesn't bother me. i play it for myself. if someone wants to spend their way to leet gear it just means the game will get boring for them faster.

I'm not sure what's wrong with this.
1. It stops gold sellers.
2. I don't want this "Sword of Double-Rainbows" then, "hey, I just won a cup of coffee"
3. If I'm tired of grinding for the next item I can just drop a few dollars for it.

What's the big deal?

[edit]
As for people farming items, that'll still happen but now they won't spam everyone to buy them. We just go to the AH and grab what we need. For normal players that's just a steady stream of awesome items at low prices.

I don't like grinding for great gear then having somebody drop a few bucks and beat me in PvP :P

i don't play pvp so that part of it doesn't affect me

also remember that if blizzard didn't do this, they would just be on ebay instead

when people hack in this game, now they will be getting REAL money 10x easier. Now it's even easier for chinese farmers to jack up the economies.

not really - the difference is this is a tertiary economy. unlike an mmo where you pretty much HAVE to buy and sell constantly, you don't have to take part in this at all.

and i don't think there will be much hacking - they are incredibly strict about it in sc2, banning you from playing online even if you just use trainers for single player games

D2, even way more than wow, is a game where trade is necessary. I've never been a fan of people being able to spend real money to get things in game, my feelings are the same here. People can play this game and have all the best things without putting any real time into it.. which sucks for people who invest hours upon hours to get the 'best stuff'

i never traded anything in D2. i thought the trade system was stupid - first of all you needed SOJ's which i didn't have, and secondly you had to sit in chat channels spamming your request forever. that was dumb so i never bothered.

After the expansion there were a lot more forms of currency in d2, even some superior ethereal items were worth quite a bit.
